Hope Resource, Abeokuta
Published on Jul 03, 2025
Hope Resource, Abeokuta, is a residential recovery facility of Hope Restoration & Health Initiative, for individuals with mental health conditions, who had been discharged from psychiatric hospital admission, but do not have a "suitable" place to return or require additional residential support, and guidance to transit to independent life in the community.
We help residents acquire the livelihood skills they need to build the foundations for independent living and community reintegration; in addition to the desired and deserved respite for family members.
Our Programmes:
1. Transitional accommodation: A low support residential service for clients who need additional guidance before moving back to the community from hospital (a half-way house).
2. Full Residential & Vocational rehabilitation: A comprehensive residential, life-skills, vocational empowerment support service, with the goal of helping residents achieve their highest level of independence for a sustainable community reintegration (a recovery home).
3. Supervised peer-supported community flats: A shared living arrangements for our ex-residents who cannot live alone and could not return to families. Flats are as a rule rented (and furnished) within our catchment by interested families/sponsors (supervised group homes).
4. Community aftercare and support: An ongoing support of individuals who have either participated in our residential programmes, or referred by their hospital care team; and are residing within our catchment. (floating community support).
5. Homeless mentally ill Persons Care & Rehabilitation Intervention: Sponsorship of hospital admission of homeless patients from the street, with community residential support and reintegration after hospital discharge. (HoPe-CaRe Intervention)
Duration of Programme:
The duration of our programme is between 3-18 months depending on client's needs, and their progress on the recovery path. Our programmes emphasize active family members participation.
Project Funding:
As a non-profit community based mental health initiative, we receive payments that family members & sponsors can afford (pay as you can) to support resident's upkeep, hospital follow-ups & maintenance medications.
We also solicit the support and partnership of individuals, groups and organisations; in the areas of materials, equipment and monetary donations, as well as manpower volunteering for project sustainability.
